Google Search in Sports During the Pandemic

I stumbled upon something that caught my attention the other day while using google trends for some research.

March 12 is a big divider in terms of users behaviors in so many things in digital, starting from what people search on with google.

As live sport went in hiatus in March, users mostly focused on other subjects, but not for all and not in all cases, there is one category that resisted the pandemic: Players.
To be precise the others mostly collapsed, while players were less impacted.

The reason seems to be a combination of players being very active with authentic content directly from their homes, and their more lifestyle based storytelling compared to other entities that purely focus on sports.

In most cases as sports are restarting, it’s good to see that interest is going back up to normal levels or beyond.
